The budget filament that prints above its price - and the filament dryers that quietly fix half of all print failures.
Failed prints are rarely the printer: they are wet filament, inconsistent diameter, and bad winding that cross-locks mid-print at 2 a.m. Budget filament earned its bad name on those three sins, and SUNLU's whole brand is not committing them. Tolerance stays tight (extrusion stays even), spools unwind clean, and PLA behaves identically from the first meter to the last. For the everyday printing that is most printing - brackets, prototypes, toys, fixes - paying double for boutique spools buys almost nothing.
Filament is pasta that drinks air. A spool open two humid weeks prints with stringing, bubbles, weak layers and a matte fuzz people blame on their printer. A filament dryer - SUNLU's are the category's value pick - bakes spools back to health and can feed the printer directly from the dry box. PETG users, this is your missing upgrade; PLA users, it is why last month's spool got worse. Rule of thumb: if prints degraded and you changed nothing, dry the filament before touching a single slicer setting.
For everyday PLA/PETG at consumable volume: yes - stock three or four spools and print without rationing. Add the dryer with your first order; it will pay for itself in un-failed prints within a season. Buy boutique only where it matters: color-matched production batches, exotic mechanical requirements, or silk finishes for display pieces. The workhorse shelf, though, belongs to spools you do not have to think about.
