I'm Mike. Twenty years of weekend projects, home renovations, and a garage workshop - plus the receipts from every tool I bought wrong before learning better.
Machine Unpacked exists because tool marketing is a fog of torque numbers and action shots that tell you nothing about which machine fits which job. We cut through it: specs decoded, owner reports weighed, plain English, honest verdicts.
Our rule: recommend the tool we'd tell a neighbor to buy - and warn you off the ones owners keep returning.
How we review
Torque numbers do not earn a verdict here - projects do. Each machine gets used on real work, then rated 1 to 5 on ease of use, features, value for money, and support. The overall score is the average of those four on a 10-point scale, where above 9.0 is outstanding and 8.5 is excellent.
Our independence
Some links are affiliate links and a purchase through one may pay us a commission. It buys nothing else - the rule is that we recommend the machine we would tell a neighbour to buy, and warn you off the ones owners keep returning.
